Using soft reset option will let to retain you data or setting .A soft reset will simply restart the Roku without losing data or settings. You can perform soft reset via your remote in case your Roku is not working.
Press Home 5 times, Up 1 time, Rewind 2 times, Fast forward 2 times. This procedure should work on every Roku.
For Roku 4:
But for people who have Roku 4 you can progress as navigate through the Home screen just select “Settings” > “System” > “Power” > “System restart“ and should complete your task.
If you have an older model of Roku then locate the Reset button on the back of the device. It’s just located above the power port. Once you’ve found it with the help of paper clip press the button and then release it after one second and this should reset the device successfully.
If you are not worried about your data or setting you can go for hard reset as it will clear all the settings from the device and reset it to factory defaults.
Go to the menu, from the home screen select “Settings” > “System” > “Advanced system settings” > “Factory reset”. “Settings” > “Factory reset” > “Factory reset” > “Yes“.
Likewise, in an older version of Roku remove all the cables except the power cord. Similarly, like in soft reset press and hold the reset button for 15 sec. continue to hold the reset button and then gently remove the Power cord from the back of into the device. After all this you have to complete Roku set up process again.
